Watch your mouth…and your body too

Watch your mouth…and your body too

I don’t want to sound like your father, but when was the last time you said “thank you”? When was the last time you took a minute to hold the door for someone other than a family member? Said yes ma’am or no sir? This is a quality that is slipping away in today’s society.   I know, I know, I get busy and forget to use common manners, but that is not an excuse. If my Mamaw (grandmother) saw me neglecting my duties as a man, she would give me a talking to or have me go get a

Have you opened your gift?

Have you opened your gift?

Have you opened your gift?

We ALL have something to offer one another, we just have to know ourselves well enough to know what that something is. And yes, some offerings are bigger than others, but that’s not to say that my gifts/talents are not as good as yours and vice versa. It’s not the size of your gift or talent, it’s your willingness to share it with others that makes it have worth. It saddens me that there are a multitude of people out there that are in one or more of the following situations and don’t share their gifts and talents. They don’t

Phenomenal concept

I was watching the movie phenomenon the other day. It’s a movie about George Malley played by John Travolta, who owns the local auto repair shop in a small California town. After celebrating his birthday with friends at the local bar/hangout, George heads for home. When he pauses to watch a strange light in the sky, he collapses for a few seconds in the middle of the deserted street. In the days and weeks that follow, George finds his IQ and consciousness expanding dramatically, and develops telekinetic abilities. “Why fit in when you were born to stand out”

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out”

Why do people always want to fit in? Why would you want to be one of the “crowd”?   “Why fit in when you were born to stand out”. – Dr. Seuss I came to the conclusion sometime ago, that I don’t wish to fit in with  society or the “cool kids”.  Come to think of it, even in high school, I was an outsider, I didn’t fit in with any groups.  Finding something worth my time was one of the reasons why I chose not to “fit in”. There were not too many  people with the same interests as

Why I’m doing what I’m doing

Why I’m doing what I’m doing

Over the past couple of years, I have met quite a few people via social media, especially Twitter. This past week one of them asked me a truly hard-hitting question, that made me stop and think. I was simply asked, “Why?”. Last year, I started following a blog called: the Blog of Manly. For years now I have been on a quest to better myself as a man. And in doing so I run across many of blogs and posts. I began reading BoM’s posts and interacting with the authors on Twitter. My interactions lead me to following Chris Gould.

Beware or Be aware?

Beware or Be aware?

After a romantic dinner with your wife or significant other, you walk to your car a few blocks away. You can hear the tires of an approaching car splash in a puddle, you can smell the fresh scent of rain on the still warm cobblestone street, you can hear the street light buzz, then flicker off and on, you hear someone near strike a lighter and smell the burning tobacco of a menthol cigarette; the sound of footsteps more than just your own are heard going away from you. You think to yourself, I feel like a spy or secret
