Personal Time Management Challenges and Struggles: The Clock is Ticking…

Personal Time Management Challenges and Struggles: The Clock is Ticking…

Due to some personal time management challenges and struggles and not able to get access to my site, I’m back. Here is another installment of the Co-op Blog post. Enjoy. People say “I don’t have time for___.” The truth is they are not managing their time well or they don’t have time for you or your cause. This is something I struggle with on a regular basis. I get overwhelmed with all the stuff I have to do. I have a full-time job working for the local fire department, a second job working for Daytona International Speedway as a firefighter, 3

Listening, not just hearing

Listening, not just hearing

This month’s co-op blog is that of communication. Take a moment and look at communication from LifeonWard and Ryan Ropero’s point of view.   When we (Ward and I) spoke about writing on communication, the first thing that popped in my head was that of communication with my wife. Like most married couples, we at times communicate well and then not so well other times. I am reminded of a sermon that a friend of mine preached on. Now before you close the tab because I wrote sermon, hear me out and comment your thoughts at the end… My friend

Watch your mouth…and your body too

Watch your mouth…and your body too

I don’t want to sound like your father, but when was the last time you said “thank you”? When was the last time you took a minute to hold the door for someone other than a family member? Said yes ma’am or no sir? This is a quality that is slipping away in today’s society.   I know, I know, I get busy and forget to use common manners, but that is not an excuse. If my Mamaw (grandmother) saw me neglecting my duties as a man, she would give me a talking to or have me go get a

Career Day

Career Day

Last week my daughter’s teacher asked me to come talk to her class in reference to career day. At first, I was a little hesitant. I have spoken many times to groups from all walks of life in my 12 years in the fire service, but talking to my own child’s class seemed difficult. I try not to embarrass my kids in front of their friends and so far I am a “cool” dad in my kid’s eyes. I’m sure that will change here shortly… Public speaking is not my strong suit, so understandably I was a little leery about

Mother dearest

Mother dearest

In lieu of Mother’s Day on Sunday, I want to take a moment to express my appreciation for the mothers in my life. When I was a child, my mother was a hard-working woman. Although she worked multiple jobs with inconvenient hours, she was able to show her love and spent her time with my brother and I. If I remember correctly I believe there was a time where she left a job as it was cutting in on her ability to spend time with her boys. That is some sort of sacrifice. It’s time that we show some gratitude

Try to try…

Try to try…

This is yet another installment in the co-op blog posts from myself, LifeonWard, One Crazy Adventure, and Nease.   Recently I was talking to a friend of mine and he asked me a question that got my gears turning. “Is there advice that you would have like to have had 5 or 10 years ago?” I have thought about this question for weeks. There have been times in my life that I wonder what would have happened if…. If  I would have stayed in college in the Florida Keys and studied marine biology as I had planned.  Or if I

Have you opened your gift?

Have you opened your gift?

Have you opened your gift?

We ALL have something to offer one another, we just have to know ourselves well enough to know what that something is. And yes, some offerings are bigger than others, but that’s not to say that my gifts/talents are not as good as yours and vice versa. It’s not the size of your gift or talent, it’s your willingness to share it with others that makes it have worth. It saddens me that there are a multitude of people out there that are in one or more of the following situations and don’t share their gifts and talents. They don’t

Phenomenal concept

I was watching the movie phenomenon the other day. It’s a movie about George Malley played by John Travolta, who owns the local auto repair shop in a small California town. After celebrating his birthday with friends at the local bar/hangout, George heads for home. When he pauses to watch a strange light in the sky, he collapses for a few seconds in the middle of the deserted street. In the days and weeks that follow, George finds his IQ and consciousness expanding dramatically, and develops telekinetic abilities. Despite his attempts to explain what has happened to him, with just

What is success?

This is yet another installment in the co-op blog posts from myself, LifeonWard, One Crazy Adventure, and Nease.   Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom. George S. Patton What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word success? When I hear the word success, I think of the people who I surround myself with. I am fortunate to have a supportive wife, friends and family that seem to always put life in perspective when I get overwhelmed. In other words, I cannot be a success all on my own. Just recently, I
